Thanks, Sharon! I always try to remember that the Recycler's Creed is: ReduceReuseRecycle, preferably IN THAT ORDER. Keeping the overall trash load down STARTS with purchasing decisions that we make as Consumers ("Reduce") and continues when we decide to fix, reuse or re-purpose an item instead of discarding it ("Reuse"). At some level, "Recycling" should probably not be considered just a righteous decision made in preference to trashing, but as a type of failure at "Reducing" and "Reusing". Take care - Mark D

Appreciate New Hope program and their wonderful volunteers. I've become more aware of how serious throw away materials are a problem through reading an article in my Sierra magazine. Since China no longer wants our crappy waste, we all need to do our part in eliminating unnecessary waste. Those plastic bags we all get at the store are especially a nuisance and should not be recycled with the "good" stuff. I plan to always use a cloth bag in the future for all of my shopping and I hope others who read this will do that also. It is a small effort on us all and reaps large benefits to our earth and seas.
